James C. Page, 89
BATTLE GROUND -- James Chester Page, 89, of Battle Ground, died at 9:37 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Milner Community Health-Care Inc. in Rossville.
Born on Jan. 13, 1922, in White County on his family farm, he was the son of the late Irvin and Sadie Swatts Page. He graduated from Brookston High School and lived on the farm all his life except while serving during World War II in Italy earning two Bronze Stars.
He married Edith Phillips on Nov. 25, 1948, and she survives.
Mr. Page farmed and was employed at the former National Homes for a few years and at TRW for 25 years.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving with his wife are his children, Daniel Page (wife: Doris) of Yelm, Wash., Clara Lee Molter (husband: Charles) of Battle Ground, Karen Wrigley (husband: John) of Virginia, Lucinda Plantenga (husband: Douglas) of Switzerland and Jennifer Page of Conn.; and a sister, Wilna McPeek of Danville.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings, Vernon Page, Pauline Smith, Eugene Page and Calvin Page.
Memorial visitation from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the Tippecanoe County Shrine Club. Celebrant Denis Horn officiating. Two principals hired for Yelm Community Schools - Education Blog ...
Matt Piper has been hired as the principal for McKenna Elementary School. He replaces Amy Sturdivant, who is leaving to become principal at Weyerhaeuser Elementary School in the Eatonville School District.
Heidi Bunker will be the principal at Yelm Middle School. She replaces Dave Myers, who has taken an administrative position at Black Hills High School in the Tumwater School District.
Bunker comes from the Shelton area, where she was the principal of Pioneer Intermediate/Middle School for four years. Before that, she was a junior high and high school science teacher.
Piper grew up in Roy. He taught overseas for several years and most recently served for six years as principal at Garfield Elementary School in the Toppenish School District.
“Even with all the wonderful experiences I have had throughout my career, I have never lost my ‘farm boy’ roots and my need to get back to my hometown of Roy,” Piper said in a district announcement. “It feels good to be coming home.”

2 Kennewick high school officials named
The Kennewick School District has hired new assistant principals at both Southridge and Kamiakin high schools.
Molly Hammaker-Teals, Southridge's new assistant principal, began teaching math at Kennewick High School in 1995. She has also worked as a math teacher at Southridge.
Mary Isley, Kamiakin's new assistant principal, has been working in the district since 1998. She was a math and science teacher, interim assistant principal, and athletic director at Park Middle School.
