Passengers React To Greyhound Stoppage
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Customers are reacting to news that Greyhound service is scheduled to stop up and down much of the Western Slope. The company is eliminating one route and it just so happens to be the only service to smaller towns in Colorado. Starting on September 6th, service will cease in some areas while buses continue to pull in and out of the Grand Junction bus stop. The company maintains that not many passengers will be affected, but those who will be tell us they will not know where to turn. "I think it's just a shame that they can't do it," Carl Matthews on his way to Durgano said of the discontinuing service. Greyhound says their Albuquerque, NM, to Salt Lake City, UT, route is the only one being affected. But, some riders still can't believe it. "I don't know, it sounds outlandish that Greyhound wants to stop service," Mike Green of Montrose explained. The eliminated route is the only bus service that cities like Durango, Cortez, Telluride, Montrose and Delta receive. So, if you are making a trip to one of those areas sometime soon, you might want to look for a different mode of transportation. "We found that ridership was very low and prohibited us from continuing on with our service," Maureen Richmond with Greyhound explained. She says the plan has been in the works for quite some time and calls it an unfortunate cost-savings move. "We need to look at ridership and determine if it's a viable route for us from a business perspective," Richmond said. Representatives tell us that the company is working on a solution for their Western Slope riders. But, as of now, no other options for transportation are in place. The company says it will stop service on September 6th no matter what the status of that plan is. "I don't see how they could get rid of it, that's crazy," Green said. "I mean, a lot of people rely on the bus system to get them to and from.U Pull Salvage Abuquerque - News

That is when the witness says Rodriguez got out of his truck and pulled out a gun saying something like "you want to pull out a stick?" Rodriguez then grabbed Trujillo by the neck, pushed him into the car's door jam and placed the gun into his neck.

"It's not very noticeable during qualifying, when you can race alone and smoothly, but it really shows in race conditions, when you are in the mid of a group. The other cars really pull away in the straights and in the corners, where we can make up
Washington's 'Poet' Of Crime Returns - Entertainment News Story ...
(CNN) -- Horror-meister Stephen King calls George Pelecanos "perhaps the greatest living American crime writer." Pelecanos sets his crimes in the U.S. capital. And it's not the side of Washington that you see portrayed on TV with white marble monuments and movers and shakers. The "undisputed poet" of Washington's gritty side is what his peers call Pelecanos.
The best-selling and award-winning author is out this week with his 17th and latest novel, "The Cut." It's the first in a new series featuring Iraq war veteran and private investigator Spero Lucas. When he's not working for a Washington defense attorney, Lucas recovers stolen property for a 40% cut. Now, a high-profile crime boss hires Lucas to find out who's been stealing from him, and it could turn out to be Lucas' biggest payday or an untimely end. While Pelecanos made his bones in the noir tradition, there's a definite "Western" feel to "The Cut." The new novel takes place in a morally gray and often violent world. It's peppered with pitch-perfect dialogue and captures the sights, sounds and taste of Washington in rich detail. In short, Pelecanos reads like the real deal. Pelecanos knows a thing or two about capturing the authenticity of urban America with an ethnically and socially diverse cast. In addition to his success as a novelist, Pelecanos is a producer and writer for HBO's New Orleans-set, "Treme." He was previously a producer and Emmy-nominated writer on the hit series "The Wire" and the miniseries "The Pacific." CNN recently spoke to Pelecanos about his new novel. The following is an edited transcript. CNN: Tell me more about your new character, Spero Lucas.
