Super scared after seeing an article on ototoxicity from a Yahoo ...

After reading this link I got from a Yahoo! answerer saying that Debrox ear drops cannot cause ototoxicity, I got even more scared than ever, because propylene glycol is an ototoxic ingredient in Debrox ear drops and I am afraid that using the ear drops may have destroyed my round window membrane went into my cochlea/inner ear, damaged my hair cells and have given me hissing and ringing on the right ear.

I'm scared that I may have damaged my hearing permanently after using Debrox ear drops with an ototoxic ingredient when I didn't know my eardrum was perforated. I went to the ER, and that's when I learned that it wasn't excess earwax. It was a small eardrum perforation. They told me "you didn't damage the ear". But I don't really believe them. Then, I went to the real thing, the ENT doctors, and they did some tests on me. And guess what? The results returned as "normal", and I got super spooked because my ear still felt and still does feel like something is inside the ear and I have a slight hissing sound accompanied by occasional slight ringing in the right ear which is only audible if I plug my ears.

Here's what one answerer from my previous question answered: "Your cochlea is a self contained, snail shell shaped organ that is filled with fluid . The hairs are on the inside, so no medicine could reach them. My best bet is that you got a little infection that came in through you and into your middle ear system. Very common, just as if you had an ear infection from a cold. If you do have any loss it would be in your middle ear system and that is called conductive loss and is typically treated medically with antibiotics or surgery. But typically medically treatable where cochlear damage typically is not. If you continue to notice pain and fullness tell your doctor, your infection was probably not remediated and I would return. Different antibiotics work on different types of bacteria, it's hard to know what kind is in your ear and that infection may still be going. Also from your previous post, if just a tiny bit of wax, and most of us do, can block our view of the tympanic membrane. If you were complaining of a perf I would have wanted to get a total view of your TM before I did any other tests and I would have had your ears suctioned too. I don't think it was unnecessary.
